Summer so far...

I turned 30! (I mean 29, again)

My family came out and we had a big celebration.

We went to the final Clipper playoff game of the season.

And a Dodger game with some family and friends.

Hiking, of course.

Took a huge road trip to Vancouver and back, with stops in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Lake Tahoe, and Nevada City.

Sam's finishing up the front yard. The brick pathway is incredible!

Music, of course.

Relaxing on the porch

Puzzles!

And last, but certainly not least, I'm going to have a son!
I'm 20 weeks pregnant (half way!) with Samuel Chet Gallagher; we'll be calling him by his middle name Chet. I'm so thrilled. When I saw that first ultrasound I was beaming ear to ear. I had no idea I could be so excited about becoming a parent. Life is indeed one wild ride after another. Here we go!!!

Cherry Canyon Park, La Canada Flintridge

The magnificent Angeles mountains.

I recently found this gem in my own backyard (a few miles from my home). It's a beautiful collection of trails and can range from easy to difficult depending on how long you go. I opted for a 1.5 mile loop called the Conservancy Trail (I think) and am hoping to explore more:

To get to the trailhead, take the Verdugo exit off of the 2 North, turn right. Then a right on Descanso Dr. and a right on Padres Trail. Then a left of Forest Hill Dr and follow to the top of the road. You can also get there via the intersection of Hampstead Rd and Cherry Canyon Mtwy. I went during sunset on a previously hot day and the weather was perfect.

Here are some photos from the excursion:

 Rita likes to chase rocks.

She also likes to climb up (and jump off) cliffs:

Such perfect weather and beautiful views. Makes me want to go again tonight!
On your way back down the 2 freeway,
you'll be able to see an amazing view of downtown LA in all its glory.

The Heavy at the Bootleg Theater

My second time seeing these guys. Just as awesome as before! If you like going to good live shows, they are playing again in LA at the El Rey on September 7th: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/2C0048B2E3E26414?brand=goldenvoice  Tickets are $20.

They had a silent movie playing on a projector in the other room:

Who Shot Rock and Roll?

The Annenberg Space for Photography has an INCREDIBLE exhibit on display right now til October 7th called Who Shot Rock and Roll? The exhibit features film photography of famous musicians, mostly from the 60's to present, and is FREE. If you go during the weekends, parking is $1. And it is right around the corner from the Apple Pan, which if you haven't been, it's an LA must-do.

I say this over and over again, but I'll say it again... If you live in LA, take advantage of your time here and do awesome LA things!! This is something you will definitely enjoy if you like music and you like photography or art. There's no photography allowed inside, but I did take some pictures of the surrounding buildings:
