A doll for Olivia

I went to a baby shower this weekend for my dear friend, Adrieanna. She is having her third daughter and her name will be Olivia. So I crocheted this little doll for her.

Hootenanny!

My cousin Heidi is having a baby girl, Lillie Jane. And I made this little owl for her named "Hootenanny!"

A couple things I would have done differently:
1. Use a smaller crochet hook, and crochet tighter so the filling doesn't show through.
2. Put more weight at the bottom of the bird so it could stand upright.
3. Stop the neck 2 rows shorter, so there wouldn't be as much wobble room for the head.
4. Attach eyes before stuffing head (which was in the directions, but I must have missed that part...).

But overall, I think she turned out ok.

New Craft Projects

I made a pillow for my friends Andy and Danny, and their daughter-to-come Zoey:
(The back of the pillow is the same fabric as the front-middle square.)

And I crocheted a squid for my friends Dallas and Courtney, and their daughter-to-come Samantha:

I have been wearing glasses for a while because my eye doctor told me my eyes were so dry and scratched she wasn't quite sure how my contacts were staying in my eyes.

Sitting at a computer all day...? Check.
Stress...? Check.
Caffeine...? Check.

I'm trying to heal the eyes with some eye drops and time wearing glasses. I'd prefer to have Jesus throw mud on my eyes and tell me to go wash in the river. But he already used that on someone else, so I'll have to do with eye drops. ;)

This weekend was nice. My sister came into town and we had many nice conversations and good meals. Easter was a good day. I'm always humbled remembering Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. This quote from the Bible really touched me this past Sunday, and I thought I'd share it with you:

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!”
But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Friday's Photo Of The Week #6

(Bridget Johnson, 4 years old) ;)

This past Sunday, my beautiful sister stopped by for breakfast on Sunday (Auntie Em's!!) with her 3 friends and one of her friend's son, Cameron. He is also 4 and they had all gone to Disneyland. Rita did really well with Cameron. However, Klaus apparently doesn't like kids and we had some drama. He bit Cameron in the face and the skin tore under his eye! :( It was very scary and we had to give Klaus back to our friend Nick. Everything worked out ok, but wow, what a day...

The week didn't get much better. We had a plumbing issue which ultimately ended up with raw sewage exploding underneath the house and all over cousin Brian. So disgusting. I don't know how to make it up to him. Not worth the pay for a problem like that to happen.

I conveniently ditched the situation... that night I had a ladies craft night and Genna helped me with a doggie crochet pattern. I didn't get too far, but it's looking more like a squid than a dog. I may have to adjust accordingly. I'm sure the little creature, whatever it turns out to be, will show up on a post soon.

The good news? Well, this week I took a morning hike in the hills behind my house, which was just beautiful. I also learned on Sunday how to properly prep and mud drywall. It's been a lot of fun. Last night I worked on the mudding in the living room for 3 hours while listening to the Killers and Metallica. Pretty hardcore, right?

Well, that's the week. This weekend is busy as always with my brother Robbie visiting, house work, a college mini reunion I'm going to try to make, and the Rose Bowl swap meet on Sunday. I'm sure it will fly by. This coming week I leave for SXSW! Can't wait to get away...

One more photo for you all: playing with my new HDR software:

Quilt #5: Anet's Baby Ella

This is my most recent project, finally finished after about 8 months. Baby quilts always take so long. I think this may be the last one I do for a while. I'm not too diligent about using my extra time to finish them in time. Thankfully, I'll be able to give this to the proud mother sometime this week.My coworker and friend, Anet, is in labor as I type! Her baby girl Ella should be here soon! Hooray!I got the pink fabric in NY last year and was hoping to use it for something cool. And then I found the elephant felt fabric and decided it had to be for Anet's baby's quilt, so when I found out it was a girl, I tried to think of something I could do to use both fabrics. The sun rays quilt was a last minute decision, but I think it turned out pretty great. :)

Sock Dog

My most recent project. The Sock Dog. Bellybutton is already unraveling. I guess I should get better at this whole hand-sewing thing...

Finished Quilt #4

After a year of work (moved really slow on this one...), I finally finished quilt #4, for my friend Erin's baby Carol. Here's the result:

Here's some pictures of the other quilts I've made...the only one I don't have a picture of was the first one I made for my niece Audrey. I'll have to get a picture of that. These quilts were made for Treydan Green and Toni Del Mar:
